Description:-
We are seeking a Senior SQL Server DBA to oversee the design, development, and maintenance of our SQL Server environment. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, experience with various Microsoft technologies, and excellent communication skills to interact with various teams across the organization. The Senior SQL Server DBA will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of the organization’s Production and Non-Production SQL Server databases, as well as developing and implementing best practices for the organization’s database infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, optimize, and maintain Production and Non-Production SQL Server databases to ensure they meet the organization’s needs
- Installation, administration, and configuration of database server/instances/databases
- Monitor database performance and identify and resolve issues proactively
- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure the organization’s databases are protected in the event of a disaster
- Configure and maintain database security policies and procedures to ensure the organization’s data is secure
- Work with other IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues and develop solutions to improve database performance and availability
- Develop and implement database policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure a standardized and secure database environment
- Provide guidance and training to junior members of the team to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their job duties effectively
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry trends to ensure the organization is using the most effective and efficient database solutions
- This is a hands-on, Senior-level DBA role. You will be handling everything from basic code deployment scripts, user access and permissions, day-to-day requests from the product team, managing backups, troubleshooting database blocking, indexing, connectivity and system issues alongside IT and Engineering, upgrading/updating SQL Server including full-system migrations to new DB Servers
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience managing SQL Server databases in a Windows environment
- Expert in SQL Server, including Microsoft best practices for database design, optimization, and security
- Experience with SQL Server versions 2016 – 2022
- Experience with database backups, archival and disaster recovery strategies
- Experience with database, query and indexing performance tuning and optimization
- Experience detecting and resolving database-related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other contention issues
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred/Desired Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Experience with High-Availability, Always-On, Log Shipping
- Experience with encryption,(TDE, asymmetric keys)
- Experience managing SQL Server licensing, making recommendations at reducing costs and/or consolidating
- Experience working side-by-side with Developers, providing suggestions for performance, scalability and overall health and optimization of the environment
- Application and Web Server fundamentals to effectively support DB-related efforts with Engineering and IT teams
- Microsoft SQL certifications
